now in bloom * mama's phalaenopsis

It's the new year... time for a fresh start.  A lot will be packed into 2013 and I can't wait for all of it to unfold and bloom into a new beginning.  My orchids survived yet another move and have found a happy place in the large front windows of my childhood home.  They're starting the year off with a bang, first to bloom was my mother's day phalenopsis and next in line is this guy...

I take the fact that they are thriving in my care as a good omen for what is to come this year.  cheers everybody!  and thank you so much for still checking in on my little blog eventhough I took a hiatus there for a bit.

the makings of Sunday...

it's early Fall and the weather is gorgeous in NC, so we started the day with a hike at Umstead Park...

and then ended it with a glass of wine on the porch for me...

and a late day nap for L...

In the evening, I whipped this {easy, yummy and truly only took 30 minutes} dinner up for a Sunday night with the fam.  A relaxed Sunday had been on the list all week, it was well worth the wait.

It turns out my college art classes and 10 years of making jewelry {that really built up my finger dexterity} are paying off... I'm pretty darn good at this hair thing and it feels great to be working towards something again.  Only 1436 more hours to go... ;)

first day...

today was the first day of school for both of us... Lila was a pro and I can now do a shapely C on the side of one's head.  Lila declared that the best part was that we get to do it again tomorrow.  I love a happy beginning.
